‘Manaaki whenua, manaaki tangata, haere whakamua - Care for the land, care for people, go forward’
Wonderworld is bordered by a protected strand of Kahikatea forest of significant natural value, being one of the last remnants of the towering Kahikatea forest that used to surround Lake Rotorua.
Wonderworld LOVES this forest. The birds and insects singing that come with it. The fresh air. The natural greenery. We are committed to nurturing the forest and supporting the future prosperity of the wildlife that lives here.
We do this through - eradicating introduced pests that damage the forest, planting over 500 native plants to rejuvenate the land and eradicating noxious and invasive weeds.
Community initiatives and Sponsorship
Wonderworld is committed to contributing to and supporting the local Rotorua community to ensure its success and well-being as an active community organisation. We support local schools, charities and community groups.
Potential sponsors, please note that we have regular requests for donations and have to be selective. Our criteria include community-based with identifiable outcomes.
About our owners
Taken over in March 2026 by Noel & Chelsey Richards and their son Ezra.
For us the Maze is about more than just finding your way through the twists and turns. It's about Whanau, fun & making memories while enjoying each other's company.
As we move forward together we are proud to continue the warm family friendly atmosphere that Wonderworld is known for.
